I am looking for a baby tub. I had two that I threw out because they made me so frustrated that I rather not have any than those. One was an inflatable one and the water always splashed out from the sides when my arms leaned on the sides to hold my baby. The other was more of a seat than a tub and when I wanted to lay my baby all the way into the water to rinse off his head, there wasn't enough space.
So here's what I want:

A basin type tub, not a seat. Flat bottom so that the baby can comfortably lay on his back while I hold him.

I want baby to be able to be fully submerged in the water. Otherwise he gets cold. I don't like a tub that gets him wet but has him lying on some mesh so that the water drains out and leaves him wet and cold.

Preferably a drain on the bottom so that I can use it and drain it straight in the big tub.

Big enough for a baby of up to 4-5 months to lie in. A seat is great for spong baths but if I want to lather up his whole body and then dunk him to rinse, I need it big enough for him to lie in it.

How can the baby lie flat in a basin that you're filling with water? I'm not really getting how that works (and sounds kinda dangerous). The type of tub linked above works really well, but sounds like you don't want that kind?

I use this in our regular tub. I do sink baths for newborns until they don’t fit in the sink anymore, then we move to the regular tub with that support. Been very happy with that.

I simply lay a towel on the floor of the big tub and fill the tub with an inch of water (I don’t see how submerging the baby would be safe).
Lather, rinse them off with a cup, and out. When they can sit unsupported I let them play for longer but also line the tub with a rubber mat.

I had something similar to this and it made me so mad to use it that I dumped it. There's no way to rinse off the baby's head without the rest of his body sticking out of the water.

No I don't want that kind.
I hold my baby in the basin the whole time. Similar to how I bathe them in the bathroom sink, but my sink is small and once my baby is 4 weeks old, he outgrew the sink and I don't want to bathe a newborn in the big tub just yet. So essentially I need a tub that's like a bigger sink.

Just go to Walmart and pick out a storage tub that's the right size. It won't have a drain, but otherwise will be perfect.

Or something like this:

The oxo tub looks like it has a bump coming up in the middle? That would prevent a full submersion.

Without all the backrests and other shenanigans, it looks good too.

My babies outgrow thee bathroom sink pretty fast and my poor back doesn't handle bending over the regular tub so soon, so this wouldn't work for me at this stage.

Checked this out now, and it's by far the cheapest so it might be worth it even without the drain. I just need to get to Ikea because their shipping charges are outrageous.

Fisher-Price Baby to Toddler Bath 4-In-1 Sling ‘N Seat Tub with Removable Infant Support and 2 Toys, Pacific Pebble https://a.co/d/73OlD0O

Using this for my second baby now and loving it. I never used the sling, I use it with the seat for the first 2 month so it’s a bathtub but a bit smaller, then without the seat for the next stage, and with the seat and baby sitting until around 1.5 years.
