Why can't you do what you normally do...what's the difference if you're nidda

I don’t get where this comes from
The whole point of nida is to connect emotionally not physically
No one said you can’t enjoy each others company and do something nice
Please don’t live this way you are making it so hard on yourself for no reason

No, you're not. See a woman's guide to the laws of niddah, chapter 6, harchakos.
Intro: Since travel together for pleasure causes closeness and affection, halacha placed limitations upon the manner in which a couple may travel while she is a niddah. Page 91
Definition of a pleasure trip: in defining a pleasure trip, Poskim explain that if there is any purpose to the travel, whether for business or simply to visit or to attend a wedding, it is not called a pleasure trip.
OP should ask her Rav.

I dont think a day outing even an hour away is considered a trip. I think this means don’t go away together somewhere where you’re like sleeping in a hotel…..

Pleasure trips in terms of niddah = romantic overnight resort.
Beach vacation etc etc.
Not a hike or a day at the zoo!
Niddha doesn’t mean you can’t look or talk to your husband it means don’t put yourself into a position that would be zxual such as a mentioned above or a spa day.

The way I was taught is that you can go places if it's to a specific destination ie to bowling alley, to museum...
You can't go on a trip where the actual trip is the travel- ie ferry, boat, walk (without a destination), boardwalk, biking (without a destination), ride in safari, trail
You need to be heading somewhere
If going on a simple walk you can "make up a destination" and the fo there and back or "let's go to x store/see the tree outside Bina's house"
Chabad btw
