This summer in the city has convinced me
to consider that we might need to go upstate next summer. I’ve only been once — we rented a house for a long weekend way past the season — so I need expert advice!
BH we have 3 kids 9,5,3. DH wears a hat on Shabbos, coloured shirts during the week. I wear a sheitel and tights most of the time. Would love my 5yo DD to wear knee socks but not the hill I’m going to die on at that age. We are part of a community that is to the left of us but good for our family for other reasons.
I want my kids to have a summer where they get a solid experience with frum friends more similar to us hashkafically. We have lots of conversations about “different families, different rules” but I also want my kids not to have to feel like they’re the only ones.
I’d love a place we could rent for a few weeks and send the kids to day camp, preferably on site. Clean and well run are important. Single gender camp. Nice friendly community.
Thoughts on places to look for next year?
