We usually bring a dish
Salmon, or steak, or a roast, etc.

Do grandchildren count as a gift? 🤣🤣🤣
We usually bring challah/dessert (both M and MIL don’t like to bake). Occasionally flowers for MIL.
My children are in shidduchim, so we are not there yet. They will most certainly not need to bring me something, yet it is nice to be helpful and to show appreciation on occasion. I would not want to stress them-time wise (with cooking), financially, or even with the hassle of an extra thing to shlep with transportation.
When my in-laws come to me, MIL usually, but not always brings a cookbook for me. (Should I take a hint???)
My mom brings food to lighten my burden.

My own yogurts for the kids
Sourdough bread from bakery
I just went to my parents for extended labor day weekend and I brought my own entire shabbos. Literally gefilte, chicken, eggs, yogurts, sourdough and some extra raw marinated chicken from my fridge.

No not for a regular Shabbos but we do sometimes bring something for Pesach, shared with other siblings. We onl give a gift if we find something we know they can use not just for the sake of giving a gift. We’ve done a tablecloth, nice washing cup and bowl set even a kitchen appliance we knew my parents would appreciate.
