There's a place in Flatbush on Ave. L between E. 10th and Coney Island that has tables of used books out on the sidewalk. The prices are pretty cheap, but the selection is hit and miss in terms of if they have the specific volume you need or not.

I assume anything used is hit or miss but figured I'd try my luck since I basically need chumashim and neviim that shouldn't be too obscure. I just need them to be pretty clean copies so school kids can read easily.

there's a place on Quentin Road- I think in the high 20's or 30's- he sells a lot of his seforim and Jewish books on ebay. If you go on ebay and post the sefarim you are looking for, there is a good chance his offerings will come up.
There is also Seforim World on 16th avenue between 44th and 45th, which sells many used sefarim. The owner is a nice and helpful person.

Can anyone confirm if there's a place in 16th not 14th? I'm closer to 16 and there's always more traffic by 14. I'm only in Brooklyn for the day. Half day actually.

the one on 16th and 49th that was called Frankel's changed hands many years ago- I do not believe the new place, Scharf's Judaica, sells used seforim. Pinter's,which does, is on 14th. But Seforim World, which also does, is on 16th avenue between 44th and 45th. Do not confuse it with Bigeleisen's, which is two doors away. Hatzlachah
