I don't have any carpet in my home, so I do no own a carpet cleaner.
I have two large area rugs, and they are really in need of a good scrubbing.
do they sell relatively cheap carpet cleaners, I don't want to invest in something expensive.
Can I rent one? Or is there another way to clean them

I used to have a spray that was made for carpets, worked amazingly.
I don't have carpet anymore so I don't remember what it was but maybe someone else here uses something similar.

You can rent one from Home Depot for a few hours.

I haven't really found any that worked well. Lowes/home Depot carpet cleaner sprays can only go so far against throw up/heavy spills etc. I just buy cheapish rugs and replace them every 2 yrs or so. You can get really nice ones pretty much anywhere for under $200
