3DS can play DS games as well.

Games specifically for the 3DS:

Games that do not need that much thinking.

Kirby Triple Deluxe
Poochy and Yoshi's Wooly World (remake of Wii U game)
Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga + Bowser's Minions (remake of Game Boy Advance Game)
Super Mario 3D Land
New Super Mario Bros 2
Pokémon Sun/Moon or Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon (probably still not inflated prices)

Games that need much more thinking. Zelda games require a lot of reading and knowing how to solve puzzles. Can be frustrating if does not know what to do. There are youtube videos that have walkthroughs of what to do when stuck but not sure what your policy on the internet is.

My daughter has the Nintendo switch lite. It has its own game disks however you call it. The internet u can block with parental control and no need to use it.

The Common Sense Media website does have reviews for games if you want to double check for anything inappropriate as well. I do apologize for some on my list at it has been years since I played these.

My husband buys the games but I know for sure they have Super Mario , Mario Brothers, a Harry Potter Olympic sports game, and a disc with 200 games.

Anything from 15 years ago is more kosher than what you get on the new Nintendo Switch. These are black and white 2d games for children. You can look into it and oversee what they are playing. I haven’t seen anything non kosher on it yet…there is some shooting obviously, but not the type of action shooting you get on the switch.
