Was it opened before? I find that shredded cheese once opened gets molds in days. All brands. The package on the ones here says in Hebrew to use within 3 days of opening, some say 5.

Natural and Kosher cheese hardly ever goes moldy on me. Every other brand I've had bad history with.

Yes it's so annoying! And sometimes you really can't tell from the window in the packaging. The stores here make you bring it in for a refund.

If it’s moldy when you bring it home from the store, return it right away. If it’s not moldy, stick it in the freezer. It lasts ages that way.

Shredded cheese molds faster than
sliced or block. It may pay to buy a box grater and shred your own.

I think op wrote that she had just bought hers but I agree with what you wrote. I discovered that the use by date is for if you haven't opened the cheese yet. Once you do, you need to use it long before the use by date.

I’ve had Natural and Kosher go moldy but their customer service actually responded and replaced the cheese with some extra cheese too

I've has this happen too many times.

I started buying the large bag of cheese and then I put half of it into a freezer bag and then put it in the freezer.

It's worked so far BH.
