I’m too embarrassed to ask my rav if the answer is obviously no.
We can’t afford any of these concerts that I see advertised all the time benefitting tzedaka. Can I use maaser money to purchase tickets if wouldn’t go otherwise?

I was told that if it’s for your entertainment it can be questionable especially since these shoes are usually not 100% proceeds to tzedakah. In which case you can use the percentage that’s going to tzedakah from your masser.

I don’t think it’s an embarrassing question to ask.
You can ask exactly how you’re writing here. It’s not so clear cut and understandable that you want to try to use masses if it’s charity and you don’t have extra spending money in the budget otherwise.
There are Halacha hotline the downside is that they can’t answer knowing you and your background and situation.
