Similar to making barley. There should be directions on the bag.

I never heard of it before. You learn things here.

It seems to be a grain.

I would rinse it in the mesh strainer, soak it for an hour, discard that water, put it in new water in the crock pot to cover plus two inches, overnight, and see what happened.

But maybe you don't need to soak it. A search turns this turns up:

"Do you need to soak farro before cooking? The only type of farro that needs to be soaked before cooking is whole farro. Pearled and semi-pearled farro do not need to be soaked. Most farro sold in North America is pearled or semi-pearled – I've personally never soaked farro prior to cooking."

It's not expensive and is described as very nutritious.

It is said to not expand when cooked.

If it's unfamiliar, just eat a little at first, and see how you tolerate it. It IS high fiber, so go easy.

I basically cook it like I would could farfel.
It is so delicious.
I have also sautéed onions and mushrooms. Added the farro with at least an inch of water to cover and let it cook. The water cooks out. But make sure to keep tasting in the middle. You don’t want it to be underdone.
