Experienced mommas please help me! My newborn is 7 weeks old and some of his diapers these past 2 weeks have been having bloody streaks/dots. I showed the doctor and he said it’s probably nothing but truthfully I didn’t feel comforted by his opinion. He’s acting totally fine and doesn’t look in pain at all. Please help me figure this out!

Dairy allergy can do that.

I'd want a second opinion on that. Can you find a different doctor?

Ok we don't ignore blood in a baby's stool and I'm really surprised by your doctor's reaction. A really common cause is dairy allergy like others mentioned, but this needs to be looked into.

Go to a gastroenterologist.

My daughter had this. It was a milk allergy (exclusively nursing . Fyi Once she started solids, she did not go on to have an actual milk allergy)

Shigella is going around like wild in a lot of cities. Is baby having diarrhea? I would get a 2nd opinion

Shigella is very different. If you are fully nursing, perhaps go off dairy products for a couple of weeks and see what happens. If baby is getting formula, speak to the doctor about changing the type. There are several options. It’s usually caused by dairy and doctors are not very concerned.
