Is it accepted in yeshivish circles, with Israelis and anglos? Nickname Ari? I didn't find much in the search here...

If he is known as Ari, people will probably assume his name is Aryeh. Only really an issue after Bar Mitzvah, but he might have to clarify a few times when he enters a new environment.

My sibling is Ariel he was the only one in any yeshiva he ever went to so very uncommon. The bigger issue that drive my parents nuts was everyone mispronounces it with the emphasis on the ri instead of the last syllable.

Is Ari by itself also an acceptable name?

In Israel this name had become super super super common in the past 10ish years. I'm sure it's on the top 5 most common baby boy names in Israel. Mostly DL and masorati. A DL gan would have at least one Ariel.
I love this name, btw.

Just FYI, in America it's often used as a female name in more modern circles. Not used at all in yeshiva circles.
Beautiful name though.

Yes this is a good point, although not sure in Israel it would be a problem... I'm aware that back home with non religious relatives it's Ariel the little mermaid and Ariel laundry detergent. But something speaks to me about the name.

It’s true that in America it’s used as a girls name in modern circles but I’m in America and I’ve heard it used as a boys name in yeshiva circles. It’s not common but definitely used and perfectly acceptable. You’ll find what someone else said, that yeshivish put the accent on the ri, the middle syllable.
Ari is a very common name in all circles. It’s usually a nickname for Aron or Arye but you hear it all the time.
I hope if you have an Ariel you’ll manage to get people to call him Ariel. Beautiful name.

The name is used in Tanach as an apellation for Jerusalem in general or the mizbeach in particular. Ezra lists an Ariel among the prominent men leading his caravan back to Jerusalem. (Ezra 8:16).

Ariella is pretty but Ariel became a fairly popular girls name in certain circles. Ariella is considered a little out of fashion by the people preferring Ariel for a baby girl. I think it started after Ariel was a Disney heroine and that was a few years ago so it’s probably also on its way out already.

We have an Ariel named for Yerushalayim. Love the name. Not so common but not uncommon. When our son was born we were wished Mazal tov on the birth of a daughter by some non frum American relatives. But we live in Israel where no one thinks of it as a girls name.

Arielle is the girls spelling.
Ariel is not a Yeshivish name though there are a few exceptions. The ones I know are from families who became more Yeshivish.
