Any tips on how to get my 13 month old to take his antibiotics. He just throws it up or spits it out. Thank You.

If you gently pinch his nose closed he will have to swallow. It may be a 2 person job to get it into him. This has worked for me at desperate moments

Did they flavor the antibiotics? First make sure they do if it isn’t.
To try to get him to take it, lay him on his back in a dark room, squeeze his cheeks together, and put the syringe in the the side of him mouth in one cheek. Ask you give him the medicine, say swallow swallow and give him positive feedback if he is swallowing. Have someone else hold his arms down.
Before anyone gives me hate for this message, think about a kid with strep who may get pandas. They really need their antibiotics! Or a kid with a ruptured eardrum…antibiotics could have prevented that!

My 2.5 year old refused to take any medication orally, even if I would get it in he would vomit every bit +. I found a pharmacy that made the prescription into suppositories for $65.

Did you try the paci syringe from Frida baby? My baby likes to suck the pacifier and it goes in through a small hole on the side. But he does also like the taste of infant Tylenol, BH he hasn’t had to take any regular antibiotics yet.

Is it regular antibiotics or especially gross smelling and tasting ones?

My 2 year old is very resistant to taking medication. My first rule was always to make him take it instead of using suppositories because not all meds can be compounded into suppositories. I hold his arms, lay him in my lap and squirt in a little at a time to the side of his mouth.

I just take a nipple from a bottle and stick the syringe through

That’s the same idea. The pacifier has a little cover that you can put on the medicine hole, so the baby can continue sucking the pacifier after you took away the syringe to get all the medicine and to soothe them.

Are you located in Brooklyn? If yes can you share the name of the pharmacist please?
I have the same problem with my daughter. We usually stay home and wait out any illness bec of this. This past time she was sick for 3 weeks and wasn’t getting better so the doctor gave her antibiotics via a shot in her thigh for 3 days straight and bh she got better after that but was very painful for her. A suppository would definitely be a better option. (My pharmacist said he can’t do it for me)
