Not a baby but toddlers yes. My kids are very skinny and tall so my four year old wears a 4T but the waist he needs a 2t and the same with my two year old.

I alter sleeves and hems for my toddler's clothes. I also add snaps on suspenders so they don't need to constantly fidget with the straps. I do it myself to get the most use out of the clothes. It's worth it for me.

My daughter has an adorable stomach. She’s 3 but wears a 4/5. The dresses in those sizes can be quite long so yes, I will take a few to be hemmed to the length I like. And because she grows fast the hem can be let down as needed.

Nope. I barely need to alter my own. Thank you Hashem.
Pants hems are a must.

Side point, but you should shop in the girls section. Lots of girls pants are gender neutral and a better fit for skinny boys.

Same. Not my own not theirs. It’s unimaginable to me,

I’ve tried it and leggings I do get girls but pants doesn’t look good on them for some reason.

Do you do this yourself or do you pay to have it done?
What is the price point?

I do what I can by hand with thread & sewing needle. Mostly hems & sometimes a pinch in the back to make dresses more narrow. It would have to be for a very special occasion for me to have it done professionally.

No it’s either a bit big or a bit small depending what the item is. I can’t be bothered and they don’t need to look perfect.

I do but I do them myself. I have a sewing machine and know some basics.

Babies no, toddler boys I sometimes hem Shabbos pants. My boys are chunkier and I have a hard time finding nice looking pants that fit the waist and aren't ridiculously long.

That's why kids' pants come with adjustable waist, no?

My son's pants need to be taken in in the addition to the adjustable waist.
I also don't like the look of the pants after the rubbers are pulled, it makes like a bubble at the behind area.

Why aghast? Nobody's demanding that you do the same. Live and let live.

I'm curious why it bothers you that people who thinks differently than you. Everyone is unique and that's okay.
Other people can do alterations. It needn't affect you.

I don't see what's wrong with altering clothes that don't fit. Definitely not something to be aghast about.
