My 3.5 year old has had some major constipation issues and is not yet potty trained. I've never used a standalone potty for my older kids, always just the seat that goes on the toilet. Right now, though, I think it would be helpful to have somewhere that she can sit in the correct "potty position," even with her diaper on, since I can't train her until we have this constipation under control. She also has some anxiety and is scared of the big toilet, so this would hopefully help her train eventually.

I was going to buy a potty on Amazon, but it's so hard to tell which of them she could actually sit on comfortably for a while, in the right position, while trying to poop. I'd prefer one that has a back and that puts her in the right squatting position.

Any advice? Anyone come across something like this?

Maybe it would help her.
I know it’s not exactly what you’re looking for.

I have this too and love it, but op specifically wants a short potty where the kid's feet are supported in a crouch to encourage pooping

I understand you looking for stand alone but there are seats go on toilet with handles and height adjustable step. Child sits in correct position with feet flat. My mom always used, and we used for our children too

Thank you, but I really think it needs to be a standalone. At this point we're trying to keep her anxiety levels low, and I think that a potty seat equivalent won't do that.

For my kid that was afraid I got a mini toilet that looked almost real but much smaller. It really helped them with anxiety and getting use to it.
