Is it ok for a school to cast a girl as a rasha in a school play, like Achashveirosh, Antiochus or any other and then after the girl says something like bow down to the idols, the chorus sings, the rasha said. At any age but this happens to be 7 year olds. Would it bother you?
In other schools do they do this? did they do this when you were a kid?

Yes totally normal. What’s wrong with acting out our stories?

How do you put on a school play about Purim without Achashveirosh?

Someone's got to be the villain! I think it can be lots of fun to act out villain parts.

I was Achashveirosh and felt very proud of my role. But we did not have a Haman.

My daughter was an adorable Achashveirosh when she was 7 years old. She practiced her (and everyone else's ) part for weeks. It's still a very positive memory for her.
The chorus is not calling the girl the rasha, just the character she is playing. Just hype up the costume and say she's such a a great actress. A 7 year old knows the difference between herself and a character she is acting out in a play.

Every Purim play I’ve ever watched has had a Haman and Achashveirosh.

It's a play. Not her life. This is so snowflakey I'm blown away.

My dd loves playing the bad guy, and she is such a good girl.in real life. As long as the kid themselves isn't upset by it, it is fine.
I played a nazi once in a play, it never bothered me, it was an important role.

At this age they're learning their lines, not thinking themselves into the character.

I see no issue with it. We cant all be queen esther.
If shes upset by the part then call the teacher and ask she be switched but be prepared for her to have to be a minor guard or something with no lines if she does get switched.

It sounds more like old fashioned values to me, "you are what you pretend to be" and all that. As far as the desirability of the role, playing the villain is always super fun.

Based on the OP, it sounds like she's concerned her daughter will feel bad or something. Or internalize being called a rasha. So you could be right.
I was in plenty of plays growing up and everyone had a villain of some sort. What's the storyline otherwise? I always wished to be cast as a man or evil as it's so fun to play something so out of character but alas, it was not meant to be.

OP, what is your objection? That children are cast as bad guys, or that YOUR DD is? Are you afraid your DD isn't intelligent enough to understand that she's playing a role and will imagine that she's being given tacit permission to act the same way IRL? Or do you fear that her classmates and audience will conflate the actor with the role and relate to her as if she really were a villain?
And how would you propose staging a Purim play without the villains of the piece, considering that without the villains there's no story?
Just trying to clarify your line of thinking here.

I think there is a difference between a 'bad guy' and someone going OTD. Our school once had a girl act out falling for the haskala/going OTD and a few years later, she did actually go OTD. Freaks me out a little.
