2 year old toddler, he used to go to sleep around 7 with no problems. The last few weeks I’ll start the bedtime routine the same time, but he’ll keep getting out of toddler bed, climbing on the bars, running out of room over and over and over and over. I redirect him over and over nothing helps. Eventually at around 10 I end up losing my mind and give a quarter milligram melatonin even though my dr said he’s against it for this age. But I’m so miserable, my mental health and marriage is not good and this is takin me over the edge. Someone please help with advice

Can you try to cut out his daytime nap? It's hard int he beginning, because he might still need it. But clearly he's not tired enough.

Or maybe try some exercise/yoga before bedtime.

He’s 23 months, it’s not too early to cut out nap?

Try adding something new into the routine- when I ask my toddler if she wants to talk about her day she gets really excited and I basically say what we did that day. If it was extra fun she asks me to repeat it a few times. It rly calms her down.
Also try shortening the nap if he is still napping. 7 is rly early if still napping

How long is the nap? I wouldn’t cut it entirely. That age they still need some sort of nap still… if it’s 2 hours , wake him at 1.5 hour.

Magnesium lotion from earthley on his feet

Ndf sleepy from bioray

Keep lights dim, use red lights

Diffuse calming essential oils

No screentime in the evenings

Clean up his diet -- remove dyes and msg

Blackout shades in the room

Check for pinworms and strep

Some kids do cut out the nap at this age.

But definitely keep it short. Try wake him up already after 45 min.

(My toddler is 27 months and I try not to let him nap. If he does nap, he's easily up until midnight.)

He takes a short nap at his morah, I can ask her to shorten it even more.
I’ll try these suggestions, thank you
