Regarding the yeshivish sect-
I am noticing that many more people started wearing nail polish.
Is it becoming more of an elegant look or is it still considered “trashy” but people are caring less.

I think well-groomed nails and cuticles that are buffed are the most elegant.
That said, well-groomed neutral sheer polish is my fave.

Not yeshivish, but I think it depends on the coloring and how it looks on you. Bright red looks very different than a light purple.

The only two options are trashy and elegant? Wow, very extreme adjectives. What if I just am not into it?

Then don’t respond
I’m trying to see if it’s still as trashy as a look as it used to be considered or if the “tide” is changing.

May as well ask if high heels are trashy or elegant. It can be either--or neither--and it all depends on what type, how much and how it's done.

SHOOOOOT.
Accidentally hit trashy.
But I think it's elegant if it's a tame color.
I only wear light pinks and whites. I do think that some shades of red and other dark colors are elegant too.
In my personal taste, blues, hot pinks, and such are edging towards trashy.

I always have nail polish on but I am not yeshivish. I like how it looks and it helps me not bite my nails.

I don’t think there is anyone who would consider a sheer pink manicure trashy.

Maybe it depends on your circles. Because I don't ever remember it being trashy in mine (yeshivish) unless the nails were 2 inch talons or garish colors.

I answered "elegant" to the question, and the truth is that most women with nail polish do look elegant.
But now I want to add a qualifier: only if you know how to apply it properly!

Seriously, trashy? Even my BY rebbetzins would wear nail polish to their own simchas. Who considered it trashy?

The question is so rigid!
Light shades of well manicured fingers are super elegant and classy in yeshivish circles.
Long fake nails, of super bold colors would be considered “trashy” and then There is so much that lies in the middle!

I never heard of nail polish being considered trashy in yeshivish circles. Maybe if it was an unusual color like black or blue. But your basic pinks, nudes, etc. has always been accepted as classy.
(Are you mixing up yeshivish with charedi? I don’t know what goes on in Israel but it’s a different story altogether)

I grew up in circles where nail polish is considered trashy. I personally think it can be elegant and wear it very rarely. I don't think it has changed significantly. Most of my friends who didn't wear nail polish years ago still don't. I also don't think most of that circle is on here so you probably aren't getting the response you're looking for.

Im yeshivish.
For sure the tide is changing. For sure.
Used to be yeshivish women would only wear clear, or very very light sheer pinks and beiges.
Now, its normal to see opaque colors-all shades of pink, gray, bague, taupe, peach, grayish blue and lots more.
Not considered trashy at all.
A nicely applied polish is very elegant.

Totally depends.
Color, length, shape, style all factor in to my vote

I've been seeing longer nails on women lately. Feels like they're all competing with eachother and trying to outdo one another with their edgier more daring designs. Doesn't impress me, it looks trashy
Can't imagine how dirty their fingers are
