There is definitely a difference in the time it takes to prepare!

In regard to flavor, hard to really compare as some squashes are better than others, sometimes the seasoning is different, sometimes it simmers longer, sometimes the heat level is different……..

I am would imagine fresh is better and I would expect that in a $$$ restaurant, but at home, only you know your priorities and time constraints.

Very much so . Frozen bns ends up tasting a little waterlogged? But if you add a fresh sweet potato and a couple of extra cloves of garlic it may be ok

Frozen packaged butternut squash I find lacks quality. Not ripe orange sweet deep flavor. But workable in a pinch.

Fresh is more work but so much tastier, thicker and nicer. Don't add too much water to frozen. Having said that, if it's just for a midweek supper and you don't have time, frozen is fine.
