I can't remember, been a while since I did this stage. 7mo has always been a big spitter compared to my other kids. I asked the doc at 6 month checkup if it's acid reflux and he said they usually outgrow it soon so wait and see.
Since then we started a number of foods (gradually). Overall I think there is indeed less spitting than there used to be, but some of the spit up is food rather than milk or food mixed with milk. It's gross and I don't remember this from my others, though like I said they weren't such big spitters in the first place.
Is this normal? Is there anything to do to make it happen less?

Try a chiropractor who specializes in children. And/or craniosacral therapist.
They have an amazing track record for helping with reflux / excessive spitup
