Has anyone heard of putting gelatin in coffee?
A non Jewish coworker told me that it has major health benefits and is helps her arthritis.
I'm interested in trying this, but I drink normal milk with my coffee.
So is gelatin fleishig? I don't think fish gelatin has the same benefits, but I'd have to look it up.
I guess I could switch to soy or almond milk but I would still have to be careful with the mug, right?

Gelatin is not meat. You’d have to find it kosher, which is not so easy, but it is pareve.

Most kosher gelatin is indeed made of fish. You can also get agar-agar or other plant based stuff.
However if this was a non Jewish colleague who's using treif gelatin, they usually make it out of porc or bovine. Any benefits deriving from that, you won't get in the kosher versions.

Can you tell me how you do it?
I've read a few different ways of melting the gelatin.
Also, do you think it's doing anything for you.

I put it in the bottom of the cup, pour fresh brewed coffee or hot water on top of it into the cup. Give a little mix, it's melted. I never knew there are "ways" to melt it, it melts in a second.
