Curious. OP of the other thread said she lived in Lakewood but I don't think of it as a Lakewood type thing

Lonely people.

People who want to waste money.

Lazy people.

Disabled people.

Sociable people.

Just kidding. I don't think there is a certain crowd there.

My grandparents go because their children (my parents and aunts and uncles) are busy hosting their married children and technically they can join as well but then they'd be sleeping by a neighbor, plus it's loud and overwhelming with so many children

They love the food and accommodations and entertainment of a hotel. They prefer to go to a hotel.

Lots of types, just need to afford it.
Each program caters to different types. Some are fancier, more expensive programs, and there are also more basic programs. Some are catering to MO, some to chassidish...not that it's exclusive to that sect, but will have majority.

Thanks for explaining.

Out of curiosity, how much does it cost per person in a cheap vs expensive program?

It’s really personal every family makes their own decision, could be technically easier for extended families to spend yontif together

I prefer my own house or at family or going to Israel sounds amazing 🤩

I know sometimes the grandparents pay for all their kids/ marrieds to be together it sounds really nice 😊

The cheapest ive seen is about 7k a couple.

The most expensive skies the limit. People drop 100k on pesach programs.

I know plenty of people from Lakewood who used to go, I don’t think that program is around anymore though

I grew up going but I’ve only done more luxury ones and gateways

Price range is anywhere to anywhere lol. Cheap is under 10k per couple. Lux ones can be like 15-20 per couple as a starting point but really depends on the program, and what extras people add on

So many types go. We went for the first time last year and it was such an eye opening experience. There were people from all over the world, jpf, MO, Syrian and Israeli. I met so many different people and had a lot of fun getting to know others. We keep in touch too! Prices vary tremendously. Our program last year cost us 15k for a family of 5. Flights are another story. I know broke families who go away every pesach because their parents pay. Another couple went to programs for the first 10 years of their marriage because she worked at the program and her cousins ran it. It's definitely not just for the rich. Also, last minute deals are a thing for those willing to wait. I know someone who got a room for her and her kids for the whole Pesach for 5k at last minute.

Sometimes the grandparents save up the whole year to take their kids and their families and have them all in one place

Although lately I see this happening more in the house rentals on Florida.

There’s a great one in Utah this year catering to the chassidish crowd. I would’ve loved to go.

Obviously you need a certain income level to be able to afford it but considering what it takes to do Pesach - cost of food - the physical work etc., it is not a huge amount for a vacation.

An older person or couple might not have family to spend it with and so it is the only alternative.

It is one thing to go to a Seder or two Seders - another thing to host someone for the entire 8 days.
