I don't know if it's necessary but I avoid baking desserts while something savory is in the oven

I bake potato kugel at 420 and cake at 350 so never together. When one comes out the other goes in

once I lower my oven from 450 to 350 for my kugel, I bake cakes every Friday. It doesn't affect the taste

Never occurred to me not to... As long as the oven temperature is okay I'll bake anything together. (If fish and meat in the oven at the same time one will be covered.)

The cake will go soggy from the moisture from the kugel.

That doesn’t happen.
I think people who say they don’t do this are newly married or have small families.
In busy homes baking things together happens all the time and there is no problem with the quality of the food.

I do all the time. I just lower the oven to 350 and raise it back up after the cake comes out.

I bake everything at 350. In the interest of fuel efficiency, I put as many things in the oven as will fit, regardless of flavor. Never presented a problem.

I've never baked Kugel with cake and we're not newly married or a small family bh.

I posted up thread that I avoid doing this. I am most definitely not newly married and BH have a large, busy household.

I did it together in the end and I think it's fine.
