I am confused why everyplace seems to stock up on cottonseed oil when vegetable oil is kfp. I understand no canola oil, but why do people use cottonseed oil? I use vegetable oil all year around.

Lol they just label it differently. The vegetable oil sold for Pesach is cottonseed oil.

Are you in Europe or Israel? In America it is accepted that Cottenseed oil isn't Kitnios.

My husband's family does this too and we were told we can be mattir neder for when we're by my parents, since there doesn't seem to be a basis for it being kitnios. But we still keep it at our own house.

Around 30 years ago this question came up regarding cottonseed oil but shortly after it was resolved and it was clear that it does not contain any kitniyos. Read rabbi blumenkrantz’s pesach book.

I cook/bake only with olive oil, avocado oil and coconut oil all year round so will do the same on pesach. Cottonseed I think is sourced from cotton and not so healthy.

The price of the other oils is exorbitant. We can survive a couple of days with cottonseed oil.
