OK now I'm pissed. I rarely ever buy from Jewish owned clothing companies but I have been browsing a bit as I'm trying to find some things for my daughter.

I've bought in the past and spent 150 on dresses that look like they came from Sheinn and the buttons have fallen off after one wear.

I'm not even talking about that. I'm complaining about the prices. How is it possible that every website I went to today the dresses are just about MINIMUM 85 dollars. FOR A COTTON WEEKDAY MAXI DRESS!! Most dresses are 140!!

I guess I'm going to answer my own question is it because it is small businesses and they need to make a profit? Is there no where to get just a normal freaking tznius dress for I don't know I'm being generous here.... 50 dollars?

It's a complicated situation. But I think the answer is more competition. People also can't talk as if 1 company is superior to the other. However, the competition has to be worth it for companies to be in business. I just went to tottini recently and their quality keeps getting lower
I was hoping by now they would have competition. They attracted a large audience.

Someone posted an H&M dress just yesterday that looks like the same style as dresses on frum stores, I'm sorry I don't have the link, but search H&M's site.

I find great things at nordstrom rack and sacks off 5th for a fraction of the price. Midi dresses/skirts are very in. You may need to wear a shell due to a v neck or sheer sleeve, buy honestly you can find a lot of quality things out there without spending a ton.

I also think the prices are crazy.
I think it has to do with the fact that all the owners of the stores and brands are living a Jewish lifestyle which costs more (tuition, simchas...) and their prices reflect that.

I went to Kidichic today and found really cute dresses for $50 and lower. I was actually surprised to see such good prices in a Jewish store. Not sure the quality but I’ll take it for the affordability.

Yes, we are being ripped off 100%

Why do they charge so much? BECAUSE THEY CAN
Because people will think it's better quality if it's more expensive
Because people feel pressure to only shop at certain stores (I.e. not Carter's)
Because people will pay extra money for tznius items (but then why do some stores sell non-tznius stuff?!)
... basically as long as there's demand, they will supply it.
As long as people shop there, they will charge as much as they can get away with.

If half their customer base decided to stop shopping there, they would either lower prices or close down (b/c they wouldn't be making enough to live).

I was being generous when I said 50 dollars. Even that for a kids dress I think is ridiculous. I'm browsing for my daughter who wears women's sizes. I'm just disgusted that literally spandex dresses are over 100!

I do hate shopping but from my understanding it's not easy to just find dresses that are tznius at the Rack etc. I know it exists but higher neck, sleeves would require a lot of time to find..

Saks off 5th has a ton of great stuff right now. Looks no different from a frum store. Go online and filter midi/maxi, long sleeve, 3/4 sleeve. Order a bunch online and return what you don't use. Tons of shirt dresses- I've even seen them carry frum brands

They only cater to a small demographic and need to change styles every season. This entails lots of overhead for designers and lots of risk of having stuff stay over.

Or the tottini blue and white checked dress w puff sleeve.
At that age I Still like dresses for summer vs long robes. It rips in no time from palyong outside.
My 9yo has a robe now. But I always bought dresses at that age.

https://pastelcollections.com/.....esses

All under $80.
I like yo buy 2-3 outfits b4 pesach and stretch out the "passable" winter stuff then buy sale once shevuos is over...

This is my favorite dress and I knew it'll run out soon but I didn't realized HOW soon it'll run out. And I missed it 😀 oh well.
Maybe they still have it in the size you need.

I'm a big fan of pastel clothing line.
They always have amazing fit. And no matter the body type, they always have something every kid can feel cute in.
Chubby/chunky kids or skinny minny kids or in-between.

My 10 yo is a size 14. My 9 yo is a size 7. (Even 6 sometimes). Same gender
Then my other kids mix of genders.
I always found cute coordinating clothing for all kids.

Lulu is also amazing.
This season they had absolutely adorable stuff. As always...

Surprised

All of these are so expensive! You can buy similar stuff at Target for half of the price, better when on sale.

Why does a child, especially a kid 5 and under, need a $72 dress?!?! And that is called "reasonable"?!?!?!
