Ok, giving options makes sense. I was just given jewelry and a watch that I did not like with no option to return or exchange and felt terrible that my MIL wasted so much money.

I personally think that when it comes to jewelry, it’s better to get what someone likes than to surprise them.

My personal opinion - movado is outdated.
Get a classic cartier or fendi Watch

Fendi? I wouldn’t recommend
Cartier is a classic but expensive
Cheaper alternatives-
Longines
Baume mercier
Maurice lacroix

What’s wrong with fendi? They happen to have stunning timepieces

How does this determine what kind of watch somebody likes?

When my sons were engaged, I had a jeweler come to the kallah's house with a whole variety of watches/necklaces/bracelets/earrings/rings/whatever I wanted to give them at that time, so they could choose what they liked. I told the jeweler how much I wanted to spend so he only showed them things in that price range. They were very grateful to me and they love their jewelry. I think it's wise to let them choose so they don't end up with something they ate. My own MIL gave me hideous jewelry which eventually I traded in for other stuff.

Let her choose!
Send her to the store either with or without you. Be sure to tell the jeweler your price range in advance so he can direct her without anyone being embarrassed

Why don't you send her to a jewelry store and let her pick? You call the store before and give them your budget and she'll be shown the ones to choose from.

I with you all the way. I don't like it at all. Dd got this recently. She knew exactly what she wanted. That's why I posted. A suggestion.

I guess that’s your personal opinion.
I happen to just have spent $2500 on a fendi watch, so thanks for that comment.

These look like men watches to me.
I repeat what others said. PLEASE let the kallah choose and enjoy her watch that you spent on. Really silly for you to spend on something she might hate.
