I'm with you on this one.

Yesterday I wore a dress with pockets. No pockets today, sadly.

Same! I noticed that I'm much more scattered when I don't have them--I leave my phone in all kinds of strange places in my home and waste too much time looking for it and other things.

This is so funny. My husband and I were just out for a walk today and he put his phone in his pocket and I said that it’s so annoying that I don’t have pockets. He was happy to hold my phone for me, but I would’ve liked to have been able to put my phone in my own pocket.

I didn't realize it's a failed product of feminism. Whenever we go out my dh asks me to keep the keys and I say, sorry, I can't, I don't have pockets!
Where are all the women designers that are in the industry? Surely they can correct this issue if they want!

In basically the historical books I read the women have an apron pocket or a pocket in their dress.
Because they sewed and designed the dress themselves.
The industrial Revolution could also take blame but I don’t think it did as much.

lol yes and when there are pockets they’re usually super flimsy and make your skirt hand weirdly or fit too tightly. My husband has endless pockets between his pants and jacket and I’m always carrying a million things. Also I’m young so I don’t take a purse with me

Not today but this season I got a belt bag (what we called a fanny pack when I was a kid but then it was NOT cool) and that has been very helpful. Way better than a crossbody. Honestly, I love a good skirt/dress pocket for my hands, but don't find them as helpful for actually keeping things in. They often weigh down or twist my skirt uncomfortably.

Its the diet culture having to look like a size 2 at any age.

Pockets add layers to fitted clothing.
A pocket in a suit doesn't make a difference but in a fitted dress top or skirt it does.

Maybe we should do a petition #bringpocketsback
#pocketsmatter

I really dislike pockets, too.
they add bulk, and if the material is soft or cotton it doesn't look nice.
plus if you use it to put stuff in it'll pull and look off. ladies clothes are not the same material like men/boys, at least not mine.
also, I'm happy to have less threats to having shredded tissues in my washing machine.

I saw the subject of this post and thought it be very different.

I agree though, pockets are life! Why do women's clothes not have them?

That's hardly feminism's greatest fail. Their greatest fail is three fold:
1. They haven't managed to persuade most women to value comfort and practicality over fashion;
2. They haven't managed to persuade the fashion industry to design for real women (including those with disabilities) as opposed to artificially attenuated models;
3. They haven't managed to unite women of all classes and persuasions. The SAHM-vs-working mom rivalry continues unabated.

Years ago I don't know about now,in the basement of the Museum of Natural History was a display of the history of Fashion. It had what the old clothes looked like and a description.
In around 1900 the feminist women where fend up with not having pockets they had a reevaluation that clothes maker should put in pockets in their clothes so they would not have to carry a hand bag every where.

That is what I thought you where talking about, how early feminist fought for the right to have pockets in their clothes. Look at now, I only wear men's blouses because they have pockets women's many of them do not.
