Hi, if you recently moved from Brooklyn to the Monsey area, how much did the movers cost you, including tips? And who did you use?

It's not so much about the distance from Brooklyn to Monsey as it is about what you're moving. If you have a huge house/apartment with tons of heavy furniture and sefarim, it will cost a lot more than if you're just moving a bunch of boxes of clothes and personal items.

Your movers will charge by the hour which includes drive time.

No one can tell you how much it will cost because that will depend on how much you are moving as well as the kind of place you are moving from and into.

Are you in an apartment with stairs and no elevator - that will add to the cost?

If there is an elevator, is there more than one which you can use exclusively?

The way to find a mover is to ask for their hourly rates - most of them in my experience will be more or less the same. Then you can ask whether people have experience with them and also check on Yelp which is pretty reliable.

FWIW, most movers have the option of having two or three men crews. It is generally better to get three men because even though the hourly rate is higher, the move is more efficient and goes more smoothly. Moving - even if all goes well - is stressful and exhausting so you should try to do everything possible to make it go as quickly as possible.
