lately I'm finding so many bugs in my flour when sifting - would you throw out the whole bag or continue sifting if you saw more then 3 bugs???
the last bag had bugs and 2 worms - I sifted half and I don't know if I should throw out the rest
it's gross

I found one bug yesterday and I threw it out.
Where are you buying your flour? Maybe switch to somewhere else.

you through out the whole bag for 1 bug.
I bought a case of 12 - do I throw out the whole thing

so far a few bags had bugs. Is there anything wrong with just sifting the rest of it?

Are you living in the US or Israel?

I found bugs once in America - black bugs, still alive, in a small bag of "generic" flour -- but haven't had issues with regular brands such as GOLD or Pillsbury. Let me know if I should be checking more carefully!

well if it were america I most certainly would ... dunno the policies and the bug life there - I should think it's never okay ... was it purchased with bugs or did they infest after ...

I have never, ever found a worm or bug in my flour. Could my sifter not be fine enough???? I use flour a lot!

maybe because you use it a lot ... it has no chance for getting buggy ...

I can't remember finding a bug in recent years before yesterday and I am not sure it was a bug. I didn't see legs or anything. I should have thrown out the whole bag?
In Israel I would not keep flour for a month unless it was in the freezer, which is where I keep mine. Still not a month.
You have to be so much more careful here.

There has been recent infestation in flour from Heckers and Heimish brands in the US. I don't know if it is the change of season that is to blame, but you definitely need to sift!

I don't bake so don't use flour a lot but when I buy a bag I sift it and then put it in the freezer so I don't have to resift each time.

I usually use it quicker but have not made challah in the last few months -- they are probably aoubt 3 months old but still - the date is another 6 months at least.
you think I should throw it all out or sift carefully??
I have no idea where it got infested - I hope not by me

oh well - I threw out the rest of the really buggy bag.
I will have to see if the rest is buggy as well.
