My daughter threw up on our carpet in the car is there something that I can use to get the smell out of it and to clean it???

My son does this regularly on any long trip. First I use a regular disinfectant cleaner and soak and scrub the area, then I spray on a bunch of Febreeze to make sure it will not still smell.

my dh once used baby powder when I bag of garbage sat in his trunk all day.
(why was a bag of garbage sitting in his trunk all day? )

Buy Bissell (sp.?) rug shampoo, follow directions on bottle and use a brush to wash it. My dh just cleaned the carpets in the car with the hose attachment for the wet carpet vaccum.
As an aside, I keep a container of baby wipes in the car to wipe up messes immediately.
