From my first grade Chanukah play, everyone wearing big poster dreidels and pitchers of oil tied on at their necks,
they're probably still teaching it somewhere
Kemach, Kemach min hasak
Shemen, Shemen min hakad
Chanukah hayom,
Levivos le'chag
trallallallalall
lalalalala 2x
llalalalalalalalalalala 2x
Unfortunately there were no video cameras then to see how precious I was.

banu derech ?

Funny that you mentioned this song because I sing a variation of it to my baby:
Once there was a little boy & Y. was his name O...
I don't know what made me think of this song to sing to him...haven't heard it in years.

The Winter songs:
- The North Wind is blowing, whoo whoo
Then the Tu Bishvat songs (coming up soon!)
- Oh, come let's go a-planting
- Atzei zeisim omdim
- Leshana tova shkeidiya
- Tu Bishvat higia, chag lailanot
- Eretz Yisrael beli Torah...doondai, doondai

oh good, thanks!
I thought it ended with "lanu" but "banu derech lanu" didn't make sense!

don't know that one
or the North wind song
or the a-planting song
or atzei or leshana tova or Eretz yisrael!
oh my!
Quote: | - Tu Bishvat higia, chag lailanot |
I seem to remember it as chag HAilanot
"ha'shkeidiya porachat
ha'shemesh paz zorachat
tziporim b'rosh ha'gag
? ha'chag
Tu Bishvat higia, chag ha'ilanot ...

what about:
Hinei rakeves, hee mistoveves,
al galgalim, al galgalim, al galgalim ...
on trips: 100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall ...
Ten little angels
all dressed in white
tried to get to heaven
on the end of a kite
the kite string broke
and they all fell
instead of going to heaven
they went to -
nine little angels ...
eight ...
...
one little angel ...
instead of going to heaven
he went to BED!

that tzipor was a big one with us in bnos!
the BINGO song my kids still sing and love it - in fact about 6 months ago when my son was learning to talk he went around saying namo and until we figured out that he was saying name-o from the song...there is a music sampler display at walmart that plays this song and they have to press it several times every time we go there...
we also sang that 10-little angel song and a lot more of those silly songs that no one would dream of singing now...(most of those were from day camp, though)
when I was in kindergarten we sang this song:
kum bachur atzail, taytzey l-avodah
kukuriku, hatarnigol koreh

one of those Zionist - chalutzim songs ...
***
Little Sally Saucer
sitting in the water
cry Sally cry
and wipe up your eyes
and turn to the east
and turn to the west
and turn to the very one that you love best!
ridiculous words!

What about:
Sheleg al haaretz
Kar meod bachutz
Chanuka Halayla
El habayis Rutz
Ki babayis cham vtov
neros yafim dolkim
mesachakim bsivivon
vlivivos ochlim
Who remembers this song? For some reason it sticks in my mind!!!
Also Tzipor through my chalon was a huge hit at bnos by us too!!
