I always thought leichter referred to those five branch candelabra contraptions. I don't own one of those, so I call my candlesticks "the candlesticks." I would probably call them candlesticks even if I didn't associate the word with a five branch candelabra.

Candlesticks. And it doesn't matter whether they're tin foil cups or sterling silver.

Leichter sounds right for one or more. I think it should refer to any thing that holds the candles or oil, no matter how it looks or what it's made of.

I say Shabbos candles, the Shabbos candles, or just candles. As in, "Finish brushing your hair; I have to light candles!" or "Come Zeezkeit, wanna see Mommy light the Shabbos candles?"

Pressed for time, it'd be: "No more muktza; I'm lighting!"

Maybe I'll start a thread called, "Describe the last moments before Shabbos arrives in your home."
