They are paid a % of what they get. That is their incentive to get the most possible for you.

It will be interesting to see what a housewife's inability/major difficulty to peel a potato is worth in court, and similar quality of life shortcomings.

When my sis sued a doctor for paralyzing her face and then ignoring her calls for days after, she was told by her lawyer that if it goes to court, the range can vary a lot depending on the jury. She went to court as what they were offering was very low. She ended up settling after court started. They offered more and she didn't want to rely on the jury who say less.(She was also uncomfortable with testifying when her face was a major factor-the staring bothered her.)
