one of the best ideas of hachlatos came from my counselors in camp yrs ago:
give a time frame of s/t you're gonna do.try for a week-month at a time. take it slowly, and 'renew' each time again.
another one was for the month of Elul to s/t special evey day-decided that day, xtra nice to s/o, extra tzedakah, learn s/t, etc..

thats what I do too. it makes it so much easier, and it lasts much longer.

though I don't know what the difference is between 'attainable' and 'realistic' - anyone?
