I had the same question about "cup"...
Does anyone know of a good book or tape or anything for an adult to learn Yiddish?

Just curious: those of you who are trying to teach your children Yiddish, why do you do it? The only reason I could think of would be for boys where the yeshiva rebbes would speak in Yiddish in the future. Wouldn't those yeshivas introduce Yiddish in the classroom? And why teach the girls? Is it to separate Jews from non jews? Doesn't tsnius dressing do the same? I know ppl who tried to teach their children Yiddish, many times it only lasts for the first child or so. Do the children keep it up when their friends speak English?
