I need to make a lettuce salad for our Chanuka party tommorow night. I need an interesting, but not too complicated one. Any ideas, please?

nish nosh salad
Salad:
Lettuce
Cabbage
Scallions (green onions)
cherry tomatoes
sour cream and onion flavored nishnashim crackers
Dressing:
5 cloves of garlic, crushed (use less if they're big)
1 cup mayo
2 Tbsp dijon mustard (I have used ground mustard when I was out of dijon)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp. lemon juice
salt and pepper
The dressing makes enough for a very large salad or 2 smaller ones. Leftover dressing can be used on plain cabbage for an easy salad.

You sure are helpful! These look really nice. I don't have dijon or ground mustard. Can I use yellow or deli mustard instead? Thanks so much!

Here's a simple but delicious salad:
2 heads romaine lettuce, washed, (checked) and cut into chunks
3 plum tomatoes sliced thin or 1-2 cups grape tomatoes
2 cucumbers sliced thin
1 can hearts of palm, drained and sliced thin
1 avocado cut up into thin slices
Dressing:
1/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup lemon juice (or juice of 2 large lemons)
salt
pepper
2-3 cloves garlic minced
Mix dressing, add lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, hearts of palm and avocados.

Thanks. these all sound great! I can't do a lox salad, but I think I will try one of the others. I just have to decide which one!
You have all been a real help.
