That's so funny.
Last time I had a washer repair man out, he told me not to bother with the liquid. He said that it's the same as the powder, just without added water.

I generally make my own powdered detergent, but for my husbands work clothes I use liquid, I personally think it washes the smells out better.

Consumer Reports had a report out a while back saying that powder does a better job cleaning clothes. I don't remember if it specified only certain brands. I could check it out for you online if you wish.

I guess there are different opinions here
According to what I know, powdered detergent is easier on the machine. Liquid seems to work better and the clothes though, and smells awfully nice
I was taught to start filling the machine up with water and diluting the liquid before adding the clothes. In that way, the liquid is not hard on the machine any longer.

I heard powder is safer around kids, because although they might drink a bunch of liquid before realizing it's gross, it's harder to ingest any serious amount of powder.

Liquid tends to have a stronger smell, but powder gets our clothes cleaner and lasts a lot longer. And I use it for cold (we only have cold water).

I've always heard the powder has abrasives that help "scrub" the clothing ... so I use liquid for delicates otherwise use the powder ...

I like liquid better. Doesn't kill the clothes or fade them.
