Yummy. A favorite soup.
Alternately you can dilute tomato paste with water and use instead of the juice

split pea soup
into a pot place split peas, onion , carrot, celery optional (no need to chop)
cook until all is soft and blend partially with a hand blender.
It is great, and even greater if you start with sauteed onions.


red lentil soup
Sautee onion, garlic, add the orange (split) lentils and cook up. For a really good flavor, add some finely diced tomato or a little tomato paste and a bit of vinegar.
Also a favorite, and it cooks really quickly for soup!

Todays less then 10 minute supper (No cleanup!)
In one 9x13 I put about 1 cup oil 2 cups water salt and spices. Wash potatoes well (dont peel) slice in half and put sliced side down. Cover and Bake for about 1 hour covered and 1 hour uncovered

Other 9x13 Pour 1 Can tomato sauce 1 can water 1/2 bag frozen Peas and Carrots add sugar and salt
Take defrosted roll gefilta fish form into balls and put into sauce. Cover and bake for 1 hour covered 1 hour uncovered.

I'm sorry I should have written that.

I once had Susi's original vesion of this for dinner somewhere. It was a couple of years ago, but now that you mentioned it I remember the host telling me that it's from there.

I made it this way so many times since then, that I forgot where it was coming from.

lemon pepper chicken

place chicken in baking pan. sprinkle salt and pepper on top. splash generously with lemon juice. bake. can use orange juice instead of lemon.

wraps!!!

deli or chicken with lettuce grape tomatoes and a mayo dressing or chummus
beans with salsa and melted cheese if desire

my tastiest quick chicken
cook chicken breast on stovetop
add salsa
corn - I use mexicorn

and serve over rice

Just to clarify ( I come from South Africa) when u guys talk about Tomatoe sauce do u mean klike ketchup you put on hot dogs ?

I make a mac and cheese (may take a bit longer then 15 min) but I double the quantities and freeze one and take it out the next week grate chees over it and pop it in the oven - NO clean up and tastes the same!!

White sauce

4 TBLS margerine / butter
3 TBLS flour
1 litre milk
1 tin tomatoe and onion mix
spices to taste

Melt marge / butter add flour and stir (5 seconds) por in milk slowly continuosly stirring. leave to thicken - you have to watch it and stir so milk doesn't catch. add tomatoe and onion mix and spices.

Boil 1kg noodles in another pot (if you have stove space can be done at same time)

Pour drained noodles into pyrax dish and mix in white sauce. Grate cheese over and bake at 180 Celsius (not sure Fahrenheit) till brown.

NOTE: I double this and freeze one BEFORE I grate the cheese and then grate chees when I take it out the next week. you can take it out the freezer in the morning for supper)

No, when we talk about tomato sauce, we mean in a tin can. not ketchup.
It's pretty much watered down tomato paste. Do you have tomato paste in south africa?

Yes called tomatoe paste. we call ketchup tomatoe sauce.

My husband loves my "Restaurant style" BBQ Chicken Wings...

1 pkg. wings
oil
2 cups ketchup
¼ cup lemon juice
3 tbs. brown sugar
1 tbs. mustard
Garlic powder

Line up the wings in a pan
Brush them with oil
Bake them @ 400 for 30 min.
While they're baking mix together rest of ingredients
Take them out and brush on sauce
Bake another 30 min.
Broil for 5 min.
Enjoy the finger-lickin' goodness! Thumbs Up

cut up whtvr veggies u want, or can mushrooms, frozen brocolli, peppers..
place in pan
layer sliced cutlets over it
mix 1/2 C oil
1/2 C brown sugar
1/2 C soy sauce

pour all over, cover, bake till chicken is soft.


carmelize onions, slice hot dogs, add ketchup, brown sugar, and 2 frozen garlic, let simmer, place in baguettes, and u have hoagies.

Baked chicken and brocolli- I do this with chicken cutlets or bottoms.

water, rice, spices in pan. frozen brocolli on top of that. then chicken on top. make mixture of ketcup, mayo and garlic powder, smear over chicken. cover and bake.

doesnt matter, but it gives the sense of a chinese dish if u do it in strips or chunks. if u have no patience to cut them, u can just lay it on top...

I'm the OP. Thanks everybody for all the great recipes!

SO far, I've tried and been matzliach with the following recipes, thanks to those who posted them, and please keep this thread going!

- crockpot garlic chicken
- honey-garlic meatballs (took me longer than 15 min though)
- honey-garlic chicken
- stir-fry

Just to clarify: you freeze macaroni in a tin pan and defrost by popping in the oven with cheese on it?

How much water? I always have a problem with the water issue.
white or brown rice- does it make a difference?
