Until now I always washed them on cold. But tonight I realized that they weren't coming out as sweet smelling as usual and wondered if I am really supposed to wash the towels on a hot temperature. I guess I am.

I do a sanitizing wash --extra hot--on towels 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time (when I dont' have time for a 2+ hour sanitizing wash), I wash them on "hot".

My towels are all cream, white or latte colored and I've never had a problem.
I wash most of my kids' clothes (everyday--not Shabbat) clothes in hot water (not boiling hot, just hot) and the colors don't run, even when it says to wash in warm water.
