I'm trying to plan a vacation (approx. 1 week) for my family this summer, but we can't decide where to go. Any ideas? - not NY area please - can be far as flying is not a problem.

a few places that I have been to that are beautiful:
new hampshire
rhode island
niagra falls
california
israel

all of these places are good for kids (some if you like nature walks more than others but overall good for kids)

RELAXING for sure - we're not big sightseers unless were in Israel.

I second California or Niagra Falls. Truth is, I don't know if there's really a week's worth of stuff to do in Niagra (though it is absolutely gorgeous there!) but California certainly has TONS to do, especially if you rent a car.

a cruise with royal carribian, it is beyond awesome. we went two times and plan on going many more. but of course it depends if you dont mind being around non jewish people. we were lucky both times we found couples who were jewish so we spent our time with them.

[quote="Lillyofthevalley"]a cruise with royal carribian,

Sounds different...Is this feasible with small children? How did you bring your own food on a cruise? Do you know how this cruise line stacks up to other cruise lines?

yes it is feasable with small children because they have babysitters and play groups, you can cater kosher food to the ship I even know of a place that does that alot of sephardim do this. this cruise line is the best compared to others you can say its second best to celebrity cruises.

Visit Amish country. But be prepared for tourists to try to take your pix, thinking you're locals. LOL

there's a nice resort called "golden Acres' in upstate Ny that is ideal for families with children--they have supervised activities just for kids and teens. Kosher, though not a "frum' environment. you can rent cabins with kitchen facilities if you want to do your own food rather than eat in the dining room.

DH and I spent four days in Niagara Falls last summer and had a wonderful time.

Pick up kosher food in Buffalo and get a room with a fridge. LaBriut meals and a portable electric burner do wonders.

hi, I went to the bahamas for my honeymoon. We stayed on Paradise Island, in the Atlantis Hotel. It was absolutely beautiful. We bought frozen meals, and the hotel heated them for us. (they were double wrapped). The pools and beaches were gorgeous. But there were tons of women walking around in bikinis, obviously. There is also a casino in the hotel, and acomedy club. it was a perfect vacation. we loved it
