I got hooked up with Primerica through a friend of my brother's. I took the course, but never took the test. I realized that the material was way too dry and boring for me. They kept trying to make us buy life insurance through them, and the idea of convincing my friends and family to buy as well didn't sit well with me. I didn't get far enough involved to know whether it was a scam or not, but if amother above did, then I'd avoid it like the plague as well.

I actually signed up for Primerica but I honestly just did so to see how it's like and at the same time acquire a Life Ins license to add to the resume and personal knowledge. It isn't really a scam but it is definitely a pyramid scheme. Although, it is scam-like in a way with how they try to convince you to become a rep for them. What I come to find out is that the industry in general is made up of a sales force with little financial expertise and are simply sales-people. In the end, I realize I'm not much of a sales-person so I will not continue with them. And I did learn a lot out of this since I was able to pass the exam.
