the best blondies:

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup oil

Mix together. Then add:
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla

Mix together. then add:
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

Then stir in:
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Press into greased 9x13 pan - making sure to cover the entire pan. Bake at 350 for 18-19 minutes - NOT MORE!! They will seem mushy when they first come out but will harden just the right amount and be chewy and yummy!

I have it!

interestingly, its made in a pot over a flame, which makes it super chewy and moist.

ingredients:
2/3 cup margarine
2 cups brown sugar
--------------------------> combine the above in a pot over a low flame. then remove from fire.
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
--------------------------> add to pot and mix
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking powder
--------------------------> sift, add to pot and mix. spread in a greased 9x13 pan for thicker blondies, or slightly larger jellyroll pan for thinner blondies. it rises, so as long as it covers the bottom of the pan itsgonna be good.

chocolate chips
--------------------------> sprinkle on top and gently press down. I like to add chopped pecans, walnuts or slivered almonds also. totally optional though.
bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes. dont overbake!

enjoy!!

Blondies
I think this one is from Ben & Jerry’s cookbook, of course I kosherized it!
1 stick butter
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/3 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
Preheat oven to 350, grease a 9 by 13 baking pan.
Cream butter and both sugars, and egg, vanilla, flour, salt and baking soda. Mix.
Variation - mix 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips into batter.
Spread into pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

I'm sure I sound ignorant, but what are blondies? brownies minus the cocoa?

LOL I also have never heard of them and I thought this thread was a recipe for blondes ie brainless women one poster thinks this site is full of. I thought it was going to be some recipe that took no effort - just throw everything in.

(OK, this post belongs on the immediate reactions thread, but I've posted it here now...)

I need to try this recipe. I've made two other blondie recipes, but they were NOT good at all.

Blondies are NOT brownies without the cocoa, they're more like chocolate chip cookies due to the brown sugar. They're also called butterscotch bars.

I just made these. I used butterscotch chips instead of chocolate, and DH just said they're the best thing he's ever eaten! Finally found a good blondie recipe! Thanks!

I am so glad you all like my blondie recipe....ill give you my secret.....its the chocolate chip stick recipe from kosher pallette that I just bake into a 9x13....its really the best!!

what I also started doing is tripling the recipe and baking it in a disposable cookie sheet for 35-40 minutes. then I cut them into large chocolate chip bars (in half the long way across and then into 1 inch slices.
its a staple in our house, almost every week!!!
