Silver tarnish occurs when the outer layer of silver reacts with sulphur. This sulphur can come from a variety of sources, including: from one's hands, from storing or displaying the silver near objects or substances that give off sulphur, and from the air around us (air pollution).
I would suggest either storing your silver in an air tight location, which many (but not all) breakfronts are or buying special silver storage bags.

after polishing, I wrap my silver in cling wrap. its not stunning but it eliminates tons of work.
some people keep their silver in airtight cabinets and then you can buy these strips at the hardware store that prevents yellowing (didnt work for me my curio isn't airtight.
my cousin had her candlesticks lacquered and she siad she never needs to polish its always silver

if you have to AC on it tarnishes the silver faster
by me in the winter I can polish it once in 6 months and in the summer ever single week
