Help needed - desperately!!

DH and I need to give two gifts to two different couples.

1) In the region of £150-200 or $300-400 ish
2) In the region of £50 or $100 ish

These are both couples who have been married a few years with kids.

We'd really appreciate any ideas. We've thought of things like a really nice 'Al Netilat Yadayim' cup, or a nice kiddush cup.

What's the gift for? is a gift certificate appropriate (like to get family portraits) or something they need in their house? How close are you to these families? please give more info.

Gift is one of hakarot hatov - a simple thank you, but a very valuable one.

Ideally we'd like it to be something for their home.

DH is quite close with one family, and the others are more like acquaintances.

we got a really nice set of chumashim with english meforshim for a family who hosted us. Always useful especially with kids in school.

a nice peice of art? if you know their taste.

They make these really fancy challah boards. Not sure how much they cost but they're in the hundereds.

A nice gift for about $400 -- nice set of china or silver flatware.
A nice gift for about $100 -- nice crystal bowl for table centerpiece or a tea set.

DH and I were discussing last night - he thought maybe a nice piece of modern Judaica - anyone have any sites?

We got one Piet Cohen (www.cohenjudaica.nl) as a wedding present which is absolutely beautiful and thought maybe something like that - anyone know any good designers that would have items in our price range?

David Friedman has art (paintings) with a whole spectrum of price ranges. they're full of color. we got one as a chasuna gift & really like it.

How about something from the Gary Rosenthal Collection? He uses fused glass and copper primarily. Some of his menorahs go up into the $300 range I think. He doesn't sell directly on his website but has links to online sites like this one that do.

Also, I don't know if you're specifically looking for Judaica or other stuff, too. But Nambe has some gorgeous stuff. They also have a small Judaica collection.

While searching, I came across this really unique-looking site.

Micheal Aram has some gorgeous pieces of Judaica in his collection. I don't know if one single piece will cost you $300 but all his pieces are part of individual collections and coordinate. He has some stunning seder plates and menorahs.
