Did you see a urologist? It is usually a minor issue.

My son had it too. We took him to a urologist. He put numbing cream on his aiver. After it took effect he snipped the hole. It was a minor procedure. He had some discomfort during urination a few times after the procedure, but it resolved itself quickly and we haven't had any issues since. He is 8 yrs old now.

Very common.
One of my boys we did the procedure in office with numbing cream. The post procedure instructions were to apply bacitracin 2-3x a day and stretch the hole to keep it from closing back as it heals.
Self understood that was torture and nearly impossible with a 3 year old.
Fast forward a couple of years and we ended up having to do the procedure again. This time we did it in the hospital under anesthesia. They put in stitches to help it heal open. Haven't had any issues since.
I definitely recommend doing it in the hospital with stitches.
