Why post as amother?

op asked for names meaning and I qoute "sweet, pleasant, happy, etc" Simcha means happy, Avinoam has the word pleasant in it.

Someone mentioned Zissel, isnt that a girls name?

OP, I really like Noam to actually. There is also Naim. How about Asher or Anshel (from Asher) or Selig or Yitchak (laugh)

You could also look at the avos or other tzadikim to see who would embody the words you are looking for, so maybe the name doesnt mean it directly but are named after somebody who embodies those attributes.

My ds2 is Noam Elimelech, and he really is such a sweet and tranquil baby...hope he remains so as he approaches toddlerhood!

whaddayamean Hebraicized version of Chanan?

Obviously, CHanan is hebrew too! I meant (as you figured out) that it's a MODERN HEBREW version/construct of a name.

BTW...as a mother of a "Noam" I thought it interesting to note that Noam was the #1 baby name last year in Israel - for BOTH boys and girls!

Its a popular one in both religious and secular circles.

TR Those names I have heard of but Zissel for a boy, I have never heard of, would he be called Zissi?

Chavale, Noam for girls? Again this is new to me? I was thinking Naomi or Nemi (a way of saying Naomi) or Naomit.

It's also popular in the US to give girls names that were traditionally only boys names. It's very trendy. It's also popular to spell names in creative ways and to give names that were traditionally just words but not names. DH and I don't follow those trends.

I'm so grateful to my mother for giving me a 'simple' name lol. I would not want to be a girl named Phrank (Frank) or Saimon (Simon)

Noam Elimelch? Is he named after Reb Elimelech Mleshiensek? That's such a nice combination.

I think it's Zeesel for a girl, and Zissel for a boy - like the Alter of Kelm, Rav Simcha Zissel Ziv.
