Hi I'm making the recipe and it says that you need a sliced orange for the ingredients, but nowhere in the recipe does it tell you what to use it for. Do I put it in w/ the veggies and spices to boil for 3 hours? Your quick help appreciated!

By the order in which it's listed in the ingredients list, I would think that it does go into the water along with the corned beef.
But I am sure you can leave it out if you're not sure.

It sounds good to have an orange in there for flavor - but do you think it's okay to boil it for 3 hours with the other stuff?

I think so.
I have seen recipes where the meat bakes for hours along with orange slices in the oven.
If you see that the slices are falling apart or becoming weird, you can always remove them midway.
