Ok, now that I have the spelling down, now I can't decide on which name. For the record, we are MO, live in US. I like Liora, but Liorit is different.

Liorit doesn't make sense, I think.

It's so different that I have never heard this name, not even amongst the secular Israeli crowd.
Why choose a name that is SO different? You may love it but your daughter may suffer for it.
(Then again, it beats Borat)

OP Here: I saw the name Liorit listed on a name website, can't remember which one. Just figured it was another take on Lior, Liora

I don't know, the name sounds like someone trying really hard to be different

I agree with the other posters. There's nice different, and then there's just plain weird different. I think Liorit falls into the second category. To me it kind of ruins a beautiful name.

Precisely. Like naming your dd Karen, spelled Quarynne.

When a name is "too common" people think they get original by adding it.
Ilana became Ilanit, Dora became Dorit, Sarah became Sarit, Gal(I)(a) became Galit.

That or that -I business, which was non existant in most circles 100 years ago, and the circles who used them are NOT those I see today doing it: Rahel is boring, let's make it Raheli, Ruchama is boring let's make it Ruchy, etc. I'm preparing an article on that Wink

Liorit is terrible. Go with Leora or Orit.
