DH really likes the name Allie in english. I would like to call our kids by (modern) hebrew/israeli names if possible but am open to using Allie as a nickname. Anyone have any ideas of Hebrew/Israeli names that we could use?

Ilana, Aliza, Ayelet, Elisheva...

Look, it's a nickname. It doesn't have to be exact.

My son's initials are Nun-Shin and we're just as likely to call him 'Noosh' as we would his real name or a more usual nickname for his name.

My niece's name is Alexandra. My bro and sis-in-law call her "Alex," but I can't bring myself to call her that for some reason so I call her Allie, which I personally think is much cuter.
That being said, I understand that "Alexandra" is technically the female form of Alexander, which is used as a Jewish name, but in no way do I consider Alexandra a Jewish/Hebrew name etc. Just my opinion, it's not a fact or anything, but in their case it is reinforced by the fact that they also gave her a "Hebrew" name (Aliza, actually.)

Alexandra is definitely (used as) a Jewish name. Now for those who hold non Hebrew names are not Jewish, that's something else.

I know various girls with Alexandra as Jewish name, and Alexander is a common one.

Alexandra it out because Alexander is already a family name.

I like Aliza and Eliana though...keep them coming!

I wouldn't. Allie sounds cute but non-Jewish to my ears. It also sounds like an alley, which is like "the streets" - not a good connotation. Like an assualt in a dark alley, or drug dealers in a back alley.

How about Mali or Gili?

I'm partial to Mali (spelled that way!) In my dd's case it's a nickname for Malka, which is the name on her birth certificate. It's cute, pronounceable, and unique without being "weird" (in my opinion, of course!)

Halleli? At least when I think of that name, which I love, I always imagine using Allie as a nickname.

In Israel she would probably be nicknamed Lelli.
Just as an aside, the short "A" sound as in Allie doesn't really exist in Hebrew. An Israeli would probably pronounce it as "Elly" or "Ali" as in Mohammed Ali. If Israeli pronunciation interests you, that is.
