I called my friend to see if she was going to a wedding & went to show my neighbor how I clean up good. I was all decked out in my suit from DS's vort, makeup, jewelry etc & squeezed into my undercarriage.

My friend's DH called back.

THE WEDDING'S TOMORROW!!!!

I did this by my cousin's son's bar-mitzvah, and yes, we drove all the way to Flatbush in a downpour, and the Yeshiva hall was dark and LOCKED. We called my parents because we thought maybe we have the wrong address, and they told us it's tomorrow. We didn't make it the next night, too exhausted! I don't know if my cousin even knows we tried. Rolling Eyes

This reminds me of a children's book, Henry's Important Date part of the Henry the Duck series, by Robert Quakenbush. He rushes in traffic, takes a car, taxi and bus to arrive a day before his friend's b-day party...
I agree with Barbara: "I say make your DH take you out to a fancy dinner."

My dad and I almost showed up to an event a WEEK early. It was before he was remarried, so I was his "date" to this exclusive evening at which a bunch of celebrities and political figures would be, and we got all dressed up, out the door, and into the cab. He couldn't remember the address offhand, so I pulled out the invitation and in addition to finding out the address, I found out that the party was not for another week...

When I got home to my mom about a half hour later, and she inquired as to why I was home so early, and when I told her what happened, she just rolled her eyes and said "that's classic Abba".

My father once went to a wedding, spent about 40 minutes chatting with people he knew while waiting for the chosson and kallah to come back for first dance, and only after they announced them did he realize that it was the wrong wedding! It was the following night... LOL He has never lived that one down

My best friend was a no-show at my sister's wedding. I was quite hurt but got so caught up with the simcha that I didn't get the chance to chastise her the next day. A night later she calls me hysterically from the wedding hall saying that she doesn't recognize the crowd and where the heck am I?
